Seasonal Influenza (Flu)

It is the flu (influenza) season once again.  This is a serious illness for anyone but for certain 'at risk' groups, the flu can be particularly severe.  We send out invitations for the flu jab in September/October each year to patients whose medical records suggest they fit into one of the 'at risk' groups.

Currently there are two versions of the flu vaccine available - a single injection given to adults and an intranasal spray given to patients under 18 years old.

These vaccinations can reduce the risk of getting 'true' flu although unfortunately they do not help prevent colds or more minor viral illnesses.

If you have received an invitation from us, please call 01603 251600 to make an appointment.

The flu vaccination is FREE.

Visit the NHS website for further information about seasonal flu vaccine and a list of the 'at risk' groups.

If you would like to discuss the vaccine with a doctor, please make an appointment with your usual doctor in the first instance.
