UEA/Sportspark Fitness Initiatives for students/staff

Sofa to Start Line

Sofa to Start Line is an 8-week beginner-friendly running programme designed for people who haven’t run a 5k before and would like to get started. The programme starts on the 26th January and is open to students and staff at UEA. Each week includes a simple training plan with three jog sessions with one of the jog’s in-person (optional to attend) and recovery sessions (optional), and a supportive community to help keep you motivated. The programme builds gradually and prepares you to finish with a 5k charity run held on campus on the 20th March, giving you a clear goal to work towards in a positive and welcoming environment.

If you are interested in signing up to Sofa to Start line, please fill out this form HERE. You will then receive an email from Alice Parker with how the programme works in more detail and Week 1 plan which begins on the 26th January 2026.

This programme is aimed to create a community amongst students and staff on campus, and encourage people to try something new and be able to get into running in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment!
